Traditional handwriting is quite interesting even as today's graphic design perspective, since it is on the boundary between typeface and painting.
From my childhood, calligraphy and drawing have been my hobbies, and I have believed each person's unique personality and preference are reflected in their handwriting. Even if using the same pen, the thickness and inclination of the letters, and the strength and rhythm of the lines are different from person to person. I have always been interested in calligraphy because the very simple act of drawing a line can be a clue of a person’s personality. Also traditional handwriting is quite interesting even as today's graphic design perspective, since it is on the boundary between typeface and painting. This interest became the motif of my work when I first conceived this collection.
This collection is planned to aim the following; based on my calligraphy style, the thickness, strength, and rhythm of the handwriting are studied to change them into fashion textile patterns. Then, they are printed on leather to be applied to fashion accessories.
어렸을 때부터 서예와 그림 그리기를 취미로 삼았던 나는 사람마다 각자의 고유한 개성과 취향이 그 필체에 그대로 드러난다고 믿어왔다. 같은 펜을 쥐고 같은 글자를 쓰더라도 그 글자의 굵기와 기울기, 선의 강약과 리듬이 사람마다 다르다. 선을 긋는 아주 단순한 행위에도 그 사람이 누구인지가 나타날 수 있다는 사실이 재미있어서 줄곧 서예에 관심을 가지고 있었고, 이러한 관심이 처음 컬렉션을 구상할 때 모티브가 되어 주었다. 그 중에서도 특히 초서체는 서체와 회화의 경계에 있기 때문에 오늘날 그래픽 디자인의 관점에서 보았을 때에도 상당히 매력적으로 다가왔다. 이 컬렉션은 나 자신의 초서체 필체를 바탕으로 자유로운 선의 굵기, 강약과 리듬을 연구하여 패션 텍스타일의 형식으로 변용하고, 이를 가죽에 인쇄하여 패션 액세서리에 적용하고자 하는 것을 목적으로 기획되었다.
我从小就喜欢书法和画画,相信着一个人的个性和取向都会在字体上漏出来. 即使握着一样的笔,写着相同的字,这个字的粗细和角度,线的强弱和节奏都会是不一样的. 因为在划线这个简单动作也能看出一个人的性格,所以我对此感到了好奇心, 并且这种好奇心在第一次勾画作品时成为了主题. 其中,尤其是草书位于字体与绘画的边界上,以现代图形设计的角度上观察发现这非常有魅力. 该系列作品以我自己的草书为基础,通过研究线的粗细, 强弱和节奏,并将此刻印到皮革上使用成时尚装饰品.
